PRADA RELEASES NEW FILM FOR ITS HOLIDAY COLLECTION

November 12, 2021

THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT IS IN THE AIR

Snow is one of the best ways to usher in the holidays. Everywhere it touches is coated: the ground, the trees, porch steps, and automobiles. This white expanse of land is reminiscent of childhood fantasy.

A Midwinter’s Night Dream, Prada’s holiday campaign for 2021, creates its own landscape. A young ensemble cast of actors (Julia Garner, Shira Haas, Louis Partidge, Taylor Russell) participates in this great escape.

Film itself is the inspiration for Prada’s latest collection. The characters travel across the tundra to a joyful celebration of the holidays. One of them comments, “It’s good that we are all heading in the same direction.”

Famed director Mary Harron, who penned American Psycho and directed it, came up with the idea for the short. Glen Luchford, a collaborator with Prada since the 1990s, directed the short. The brand created a curved cocoon of LED screens used on The Mandalorian to capture the actors in their frozen environment.

The collection is primarily black, white, and sometimes pastel with holiday parties in mind. Retro bucket hats and chiffon, sequin, and rhinestone shirts pair well with striped tights. The men’s wardrobe is boxy with chrome accessories. The clothes can now be ordered online.
