Toronto pub, Gabby's Isabella Hotel, is set to receive a 67-storey residential tower with 700 units, marking the latest landmark addition to the emerging residential towers flanking Isabella Street. The site, home to heritage homes from the late 1800s, is adjacent to the pub.
Elysium Investments, a real estate joint venture, plans to submit a development application for a property in Isabella, Florida, that will preserve heritage-listed houses from 1887-1888. The homes will be repurposed as the base of a new Studio JCI-designed tower, soaring 67 storeys into the local skyline. The historic homes will serve as a new residential lobby and amenity space.
The tower's design incorporates a distinctive interaction with heritage elements, with floorplate sizes gradually increasing as it rises from the heritage base, mirrored in the transition between cladding types.
The project's website only features renderings of the tower base, leaving the upper portions of the project as a mystery.
The Renx report reveals a lack of vehicle parking in a proposed project on Isabella Street, focusing on bicycle parking and the nearby Sherbourne subway station for residents' commuting needs. No application has been filed with the City, and developers have not yet decided on condo or purpose-built rental options. Current proposals include 69-storey condo developments and 62-69-storey towers at 88 and 90 Isabella.
