Although it seems like the snow, and cold weather is never ending, we’re getting closer and closer to warmer weather. What does this mean? We are picking up our travel brochures, grabbing our laptops and scoping out our next travel destination – so long as it’s safe of course.

Here at the Penthouse Queen headquarters, we like to scope out the upcoming, most luxurious places to travel to, and alongside the help of the internet, I have brought to you a special list of cities you may consider adding to your travel list.

Grab your wallets, your significant other, this is when I will tell you it’s okay to get greedy and actually think for yourself once.

Valencia, Spain

Due to its long legacy of design and innovative public policy, this port city on Spain’s southeastern coast has been named the 2022 World Design Capital. As part of the award, the city is planning an entire year of programming to celebrate design and its ability to make lives better for residents.

Procida

A must-visit destination next year thanks to its nomination as Italy’s 2022 Cultural Capital.  All Street Napoli, a new tour company run by Annie Ojile and Alexandra Lawrence, two Americans living in Italy, offers excursions to the island from Naples.

Istanbul

Galataport, a massive $1.76 billion project along Istanbul’s Bosphorus waterfront, will transform the neighborhood of Karaköy. Designed by Renzo Piano, the Istanbul Modern Museum will open the promenade for the first time in around 200 years.

Oslo

Oslo’s National Museum will become the biggest cultural center in the Nordic countries when it moves into its new building near City Hall next year. There will also be an epic new hotel in Oslo’s original electrical company, Sommero, in the Norwegian capital.

Zürich

The Kunsthaus Zürich has become Switzerland’s largest art museum thanks to a recent expansion designed by David Chipperfield. The museum is known for its collection of Impressionist paintings; however, it is now focusing more on modern and contemporary art contemporary art, with the new Chipperfield building focused on art from 1960 to the present. It also houses a new design store, garden, and bar.

Valletta

There are plenty of reasons to visit the capital of this Mediterranean island nation near Sicily, which was recently named European Capital of Culture. New hotels have also opened on the island this year, including the Iniala Harbour House, which has 23 suites set in four Maltese houses, as well as a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Where are you going this summer?
